Job Description
Title: Events Intern
 
Internship Description:  The Greater Wayzata Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking candidates interested in a Summer Internship focused primarily on event planning, communications, and creative design. The Greater Wayzata Area Chamber of Commerce serves the North Lake Minnetonka Communities of Wayzata, Plymouth, Long Lake, Minnetonka, and beyond, hosting over three major community festivals each year.  

Duties May Include:
  • Execute over 3 major projects/events
  • Gather information on each project to achieve quality event productions
  • Conduct research, make site visits
  • Assist in logistic plans for events
  • Propose new ideas to improve the event and the planning process
  • Serve as liaison with sponsors and vendors on event related matters
  • Assist with preparing budgets, progress reports
  • Recruit volunteers
  • Prepare registration forms and systems
  • Assist with updating/keeping track of event finances
  • Greet visitors and provide them with maps or brochures, and answer FAQ's
  • Misc. duties assigned by the Chamber President, and Community Events Director

Desired Qualifications:  The ideal candidate will be self motivated, organized and able to work independently.  
  • College Sophomore/Junior/Senior  
  • Flexible Schedule
  • Detail Oriented
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Some evening and weekend hours required
  • Physical requirements during events, ability to lift 45 pounds
  • 1 year experience coordinating events ideal, but not required
